As most of us are aware, there are quite a few problems with the current education system in America. For example, some of these could include inefficient budget usage, standardized testing scores that don't reflect actual ability, poor teachers, the fact that some students find a class absurdly easy while another group finds it extremely difficult, etc. The optimal education system is one in which all of the students can each have their own personalized plan, and the resources are optimzed to be the most productive and the most efficient. Some students learn better through a traditional classroom setting, others are better suited to independent studying, and other still might prefer something else. Some students know what their interests are and wish to spend more time working on them and less time (but not completely ignore/avoid) on other subjects. These are just two of the countless number of ways in which the personalized system would provide students with much more freedom, comfort, enjoyment, and profit from their education. A plan is currently being developed to start an education reform within the country in order to effectively implement personalized plans for each student. Assuming the plan succeeds, there could be long-reaching effects, not only related directly to the education of the students, but also including improved student morale, highly simplified college applications, a restoration of grading integrity, shifts in cultural norms and thinking, an improved economy, and many more. What will the new system be like? That's very difficult to tell at the moment because there are so many factors to consider. However, we can form an image of what it most likely will become. There will generally be less staff, a looser schedule, and more technology to help organize the great number of factors to consider when giving each student their own plan. Though a portion of the school will continue using the traditional classroom setting, the other portion of the school will cater to alternate forms of teaching. Overall, the atmosphere will feel more like a college. Because of the abundance of resources, the school will also have a much larger variety of courses and extracurricular activities. Because of the nature of the kind of system, it is important to carefully consider each and every case in order to cater to each and every student. Therefore, input from the students themselves is highly important, and must be taken into account.
